Lenormand Rider Meanings and Combinations

1. The Rider

Also known as The Horseman or Cavalier

Keywords: News, messages, what approaches, what is leaving, a horse, a sporty person, sports.

General Rider Meaning

In Lenormand, The Rider is the card of a messenger. In most cases, The Rider will appear when news being brought to the seeker or someone close to them. In a reading, the emphasis may be on the actual news or nature of the messenger.

Like the Knights in Tarot readings, The Rider can be symbolic of what is entering or leaving the seekerโ€™s life. Because Rider is a neutral card, whether what is entering/leaving is positive or negative depends entirely on context.

In the literal sense, Rider represents horses, and also, horse riding, sports, and sporty people. Sometimes this card can signal sports, competition, and competitiveness so keep that in mind when you are putting together your interpretation.

Specific Rider Meanings

Love Meaning: In a love reading, the Rider can represent a new lover, a sporty boyfriend/girlfriend or news for the person your seeker is in a relationship with (or will be in the future.

Career Meaning: In a career reading, The Rider can symbolize work with horses or a job in the sporting fields. In general, it will mean your seeker will hear news about a job, news at work or will find themselves having some friendly competition.

Business Meaning: In a business reading, the seeker will be made aware of opportunities or hear news about their company, should The Rider appear.

Positive: In a favorable reading, The Rider speaks of good news, opportunities, new people who are a significant influence in the seekerโ€™s life and friendly competition.

Negative: In a negative reading, The Rider represents bad news, lost opportunities, people who are a bad influence (especially younger individuals) and friends, lovers, etc. leaving the seekerโ€™s life.
