Lenormand Scythe Meaning and Combinations

10. Scythe

Keywords: Quick endings, cuts, accidents, something being cut out, the unexpected, a warning, death, scissors, a scythe.

General Scythe Meaning

Scythe is a much-dreaded card due to its quick and destructive nature. It is similar to Coffin in the sense that it symbolizes endings but differs in the fact that in Scythe endings are swift and unexpected. Also, like the Coffin card, this one spells death but unlike Coffin death will claim his victim almost out of the blue.

Scythe also predicts accidents for your seeker. These accidents may be small or sinister depending on context and surrounding cards. Cuts will appear as Scythe. Your client should be careful if they’re into crafts and scrapbooking. Literally sharp things, cutting, scissors, etc. all fall under Scythe.

Figuratively, cutting ties is represented by Scythe. If Scythe appears in their reading, your seeker will be removed quickly and without warning. Therefore, this card is a bad omen for relationships, especially if they’re in the habit of selecting dates who do not call back the next day.

Specific Scythe Meanings

Love Meaning: Scythe can represent the end of your seeker’s relationship, or it can be a prediction that a person they will consider dating will be no good for them.

Career Meaning: Scythe in a career reading can mean that your seeker will be in an accident at work.

Business Meaning: In a business reading, Scythe represents a warning about your seeker’s company; they should remain vigilant.

Positive: Scythe can be desirable if it means that something bad in your seeker’s life will be removed quickly.

Negative: Scythe usually takes on a sinister interpretation and warns against quick endings, accidents and unexpected changes (even death).
