Like all Court Cards, the Page of Wands can represent you or someone else in your life. It symbolises an individual who is enthusiastic. They like to get going and jump into tasks head first. They love the first stages of any project or relationship when everything is shinny and new.
Sometimes, your Tarot cards may be advising you to take on the nature of the Page of Wands. If you find that you are not adventurous or fun loving then perhaps it is time to change that. You need to find your inner thirst for life because you’re being a Debbie downer.
There will be times when the attitude of the Page of Wands is not a positive thing, especially in readings which look negative. This card can mean that you (or someone else) is too keen to start things but not finish them. You may underestimate the effort needed for most projects or relationships. The Page of Wands is all for something while everything is bubble gum and roller coasters but once the going gets tough they’re out of there.
Other times, the Page of Wands can symbolise ideas. You or someone else in your life may have brilliant ideas and creative plans. The Page of Wands doesn’t necessarily promise that your ideas will become anything tangible but they are valuable enough to mention. However, if there are Pentacle Tarot cards further in the future, then your plans will be profitable.
There is the possibility that you are all ideas, no substance. You can think up great things but you lack when it comes to actually taking action.
Because of the beginners nature of the Pages, it is more desirable for them to appear in the Past or Present part of a spread than it is for them to pop up in an Outcome position.
If the Page of Wands appears in a general spread in the future then it can just indicate a new friend or acquaintance with the qualities of the Page of Wands. However, if it appears in the future for a specific question about love or career then it can predict a lack of progress made in that area.
The Page of Wand's Historical Meaning
For predictive readings, some readers like to take into account the meanings of Tarot cards prior to modern meanings (before the 1950’s).
If ancient interpretations are anything to go by, the Page of Wands predicts the presence of an individual who has news or messages. This person will embody the qualities of the Wands suit (creative, passionate, faithful, pleasurable). Whether this person has good or bad intentions towards you depends on the following cards.
The Page of Wands in a Love Reading
In a love reading, the Page of Wands is generally a good sign as it can indicate that the parties involved are having enthusiastic feelings about the relationship. If you’re the type of person to put pressure on your partner, the card can warn that you have not to ruin the excitement of the relationship.
If the relationship is fresh and new then excitement is a good thing. However, I would take the Page of Wands as a bad sign for a relationship which is already well established. This card can indicate that the partnership will not ever progress to a serious level, especially if the Page appears in an outcome position. A partner represented by this card cannot be relied on.
Typically, having the Page in the present or past is fine but having it in the future can show a lack of development in the relationship. A Page of Wands in an Outcome or Future position in a love reading says to me that either you or your partner enjoy the thrill of a new relationship but are not serious enough to be tied down. And, if you would like to read further on your partner's feelings and intentions for your relationship, I have detailed interpretations for these concerns in my Love Tarot Meanings e-book.
The Page of Wands in a Business Reading
The Page of Wands is a positive omen for business readings. It shows that you are willing to work hard on ideas which excite you. You live very much in the moment and immerse yourself in tasks which are at the beginning stages of development.
Sometimes, the Page of Wands can indicate business ideas which are of a creative nature. You may not yet have the tools and knowledge needed to make your plan a reality but you will be willing to go out into the world and find the information you need.
I should warn that the Page of Wands in a business reading can predict that you have many dreams and inventions written down on paper but you get easily bored. You will find it difficult to apply yourself and stick it out during tasks which are less appealing; you are a starter not a finisher. You will look for an easy fix which does not exist.
