Working Together, Equally Matched, Conformity, Friendships, Brave Acts, Worthy Allies, Worthy Opponents
The 2 of Swords is the card of conformity. Your cards are telling you that you must conform to the masses during the time which the 2 of Swords represents.
Now is not the time to go against the grain. You must do what is expected of you and don’t shake things up. Perhaps you do not have all the information you need to have and will be better equip to take on challenges in the future; if you wait, more will be revealed to you.
For now, you should rally your troops, increase your energy and plan for the battle which will take place at a later date. In the future you will be better prepared. During this time, you will begin to notice who is loyal to you and who is not; take note.
Another interpretation is that the 2 of Swords represents an opponents. During the time of the 2 of Swords, there is the possibility that you will be enrolled in a conflict. You should be warned that the person causing you problems will be on the same level as you in some way. They will be difficult to beat.
You and your competitor may have different things to loose or gain. However, that does not mean that those things will not hold the same weight. In a sense you will be equally matched, both being willing to work hard to defeat each other. It is for these reasons that you must bide your time and conform with the status quo in order to not shake the boat and risk losing everything.
The 2 of Swords in the future or outcome position of a Tarot reading it can mean that, in the future, you will go up against someone who you do not currently anticipate. An individual you do not think is a problem will reveal themselves to be one in the future. This can be for the affection of a loved one, a business deal, whatever it is you’re reading about.
The Two of Swords’ Historical Meaning
Probably due to the fact this card implies balance some ancient sources say the 2 of Swords is a good card for love and relationships. Prior to the Rider Waite Smith tradition, the 2 of Swords was not a bad card to get in a card reading; it was a very positive card for relationships. Intimacy and gifts are predicted and couples will be well matched.
The Two of Swords in a Love Reading
I would say that the 2 of Swords is generally good for a love Tarot reading. The reasons I say this is because it was traditionally a love, intimacy and affection card. I also feel this way because it shows that both you and your partner are well matched.
However, if you’re wondering what your potential lover’s feelings are towards you I would say that they are probably taking their time. They are weighing up the pros and cons of a relationship and deciding if they want one just now. Its nothing against you, it just means that they have other commitments (such as work) to consider.
If the 2 of Swords appears as a negative in a love reading it can mean that neither one of you is willing to back down in an argument and admit when you’re wrong. Clearly, this can become a problem in the future so it may be something you should address in the present, and this is something you can do with one of the spreads in my Love Tarot Spreads e-book.
The Two of Swords in a Business Reading
The 2 of Swords is pretty straight forward in a business reading; it represents your competitors. The card serves as a warning that you’re not doing as much as you should be doing to outsmart your competition. You need to think of ways which you can highlight how your product differs from theirs if you are to be successful.
