  In a Tarot card reading, The Eight of Wands in a spread can be a symbol of communication and social media. This post includes vintage and modern fortune telling meanings of the 8 of Wands, ideal for the advanced reader or those just learning the cards. These interpretations can be used with any of the decks (Rider Waite, Marseilles etc.) Cards used in this post are from The Wild Unknown Tarot Deck.

Good or useful news can appear as the 8 of Wands. There is the possibility that you will hear of a great opportunity through someone else. This may be a business opportunity, a job you can apply for or, even, a blind date organized by a friend. It is possible that one of these experiences will take your life in a whole new direction so say yes to everything!

If the 8 of Wands pops up as a negative, this can mean that you will not like the news you have been told. Or it can mean that you will spread some gossip you have been told but misunderstood. A conflict may erupt proceeding a misheard communication.

If the 8 of Wands doesn’t symbolizes news or messages, it can represent things taking shape (the 8 of Wands is a very quick card). You will find a new sense of direction and determination in life. Movement towards a goal and desire will finally appear to be happening.

Everything will happen much quicker than expected if the 8 of Wands is in your spread. Relationships will progress, businesses will take off and the end results will be celebrated. Expect whirlwind romances when the 8 of Wands makes an appearance.

A negative face of the 8 of Wands is that of overwhelm. Things may happen so fast you have no time to think. You could jump into relationships, businesses and, even life-long commitments before you are truly ready. Although exciting at first the novelty of this can wear off.

In modern times the 8 of Wands can also symbolizes you feeling too connected. You are stressing out trying to keep up. Your Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat are driving you crazy. If this sounds like you, its time to go on a digital detox. Head to the beach and leave your phone at home.

The Eight of Wands' Historical Meaning

In Tarot, the 8 of Wands has always been a card of quick movement and everything beginning to come together. It is a card of direction and speeding towards a goal.

In the early 20th century, Waite notes that the 8 wands symbolize ‘the arrows of love’. I have found this interpretation to be correct, and often read the 8 of Wands with a positive love meaning.

The Eight of Wands in a Love Reading

The 8 of Wands often appears in love Tarot readings. The 8 of Wand’s meaning can change depending on the nature of your question, but it is not a particularly evil card to pull in the context of romance.

If you’re wondering what a partner or potential partner’s feelings are towards you, then the 8 of Wands is a sign that all will be revealed in due time. Soon, you will receive a message or communication from them which will shed light on their intentions (the cards do not state if you will like this news or not, all the cards promise is that you will get clarity).

The 8 of Wands appearing in the outcome or future position of a love reading is rather frustrating; it basically means that you will need to wait to find out. The 8 of Wands in an outcome position is a sign that things are progressing, but your cards cannot yet tell you exactly in what way things will unfold. Wait a few weeks, then read on this matter again.

Alternatively (if you can't wait) you can check out my Love Tarot Spreads e-book. This spread book includes spreads for relationship intentions, what people think about the relationship, ex-lover spreads and more.

If the 8 of Wands appears in a love reading as a negative or in a Tarot spread which doesn’t look so good, this can be a warning that the relationship is moving too fast. If you feel as though you have not gotten time to digest any red flags, you should do.

Also be wary if you get the 8 of Wands and your partner wants to remain in constant contact with you; these two things partnered together can be an early signal that your lover likes to control and monitor you.

The Eight of Wands in a Business Reading

If the question you have asked your Tarot cards relates to how you can improve your business then the 8 of Wands is telling you that you should give your company a face. Make sure that your potential customers and clients know that it’s a real person behind your business not just a fancy logo and some nice pictures. Also, the 8 of Wands can mean that social media will grow your company.

The 8 of Wands is also a sign that you should invest heavily in customer care and the customer experience. Adding those extra touches will make them feel special (which will encourage them to spread the word to their friends and family).

If the 8 of Wands appears as a negative in a business reading, this can mean that you jump into things too quickly without first running the numbers. Do not fire through your plans blindly; run the numbers.

The Eight of Wands as a Yes or No

Because the 8 of Wands represents things taking shape, coming together and developing, I am inclined to read it as a yes.

The Eight of Wands as a Positive

In a positive reading or spread position, the 8 of Wands predicts;

- Everything will quickly take shape

- All will come together nicely

- Enjoying connecting with others

- News you welcome

- Social media used for fun

The Eight of Wands as a Negative

In a more negative reading or spread position, the 8 of Wands predicts;

- Things moving too fast

- Being unable to stay on top of everything

- Feeling burnt out by others

- Gossip which causes trouble

- Social media as a burden
