High Priestess Tarot Meaning - Love, Future, Feelings, and More

The meaning of The High Priestess Tarot card is ‘secrets.’ The Tarot card of intuition and mystery, The High Priestess is loved by diviners. Despite its reputation, The High Priestess is hard to read because it can often mean that the outcome or future is not meant to be known.

The High Priestess Tarot Card

The High Priestess is the card of psychic ability. Wherever this card pops up, you can expect an increase in intuition. If you’re reading another person, you will be reading another psychic or sensitive who might also work in a metaphysical or healing profession. If you’re looking for a job, you could get one in this industry in the future.

At other times, The High Priestess represents strong suspicions. You may even suspect infidelity. Your intuition may be telling you that something in your life is not quite right. A lover or business partner may be keeping a secret from you. Sensing this dishonesty can cause this card to pop up in a reading. In the future, The High Priestess represents the time when a secret will be revealed.

In general Tarot readings, it’s standard for The High Priestess to hold the meaning of psychic development, spirituality, and mediumship in the future. Because of this, when applied to love readings, it can mean that your intuition is correct.

Many people panic when The High Priestess comes up in a love Tarot reading, especially as the outcome. In outcome positions, it’s often difficult to interpret the meaning of The High Priestess. While it’s true that this card can symbolize secrets and implies infidelity, it’s more common for the card to represent what has to be revealed.

Similarly to The Moon, in a question-specific reading (in this case, a Tarot reading with a specific question about love), I usually read the High Priestess as a sign that you’re not yet meant to know what will happen in the future. You should live in the present and not worry about what’s going to happen. The High Priestess states that what is for you will not pass you by.

Don’t worry too much if the future of your Tarot reading cannot be revealed to you. Sometimes, it just means that you have to make your own choices or learn a lesson yourself. The High Priestess can also appear in relationship Tarot readings to symbolize the fact that you have to use your intuition to find the answers.

The High Priestess Feelings Tarot Meaning

If you would like to know if someone else has feelings for you, the High Priestess will not allow you to know. You have to discover your potential partner’s intentions in time.

The High Priestess Future Tarot Meaning

The High Priestess holds onto that which we are not meant to know. If you keep getting The High Priestess in the future or an outcome position, you are not supposed to know the future. The Tarot will be advising you that you should work through this situation on your own, without prejudice. In these cases, the future will reveal itself in its own time.

When it comes to relationships, I’ve had love readings that turned up badly with The High Priestess in the future, but I’ve also had the same outcome with a relationship that’s going very smoothly. Sometimes, it’s in your best interests to not know the future, especially if you’re the type of person who reads things negatively and then worries about them.

The High Priestess Business & Career Tarot Meaning

High Priestess Love Tarot Meaning

If you’re performing a reading about your business or career, the High Priestess is obviously good if you’re in the spirituality or divination sector. This card can predict that you’ll be well known and achieve great things in these areas. You have divine protection.

However, if you’re not in the spirituality or divination professions, the High Priestess’s meaning for business is the same for love; just now, you’re not meant to know the outcome. My advice is that you continue on the path you’re on and let your situation play out a bit. Only read this matter again when some time has passed (at least six weeks).

There are many reasons why Tarot will not give you a straight answer for an outcome. It may be that the actions you take could greatly affect other areas of your life. Therefore, you must go with the flow and let everything come together on its own. I would wait until your relationship develops further, something major happens, or some time has passed (at least six weeks) before you read on this matter again.

Historically (pre-Rider-Waite), The High Priestess was a card of science, education, and wisdom. So, along with jobs in the psychic/holistic sector, The High Priestess is good for scientists, geologists, and doctors.

When she shows up as an outcome in career or business readings, The High Priestess can predict that you will get the opportunity to work in the psychic, intuitive, or scientific industries in the future. If you already have a career in this sector, The High Priestess is a very good omen, as it predicts that you will grow your influence massively in the future.

Yes or No with The High Priestess Tarot Meaning

General – The High Priestess appears when you are not meant to know the outcome or the action you should take. Therefore, it is neither a yes nor no from this card for most types of questions.

Do they like me? – It is unknown whether they like you.

Am I pregnant? – A lot of Tarot readers would interpret the High Priestess as a yes. However, I interpret The High Priestess as an unknown for conception.

Is this relationship going to last? – It is unknown whether this romance is going to last.

Does the future of this look promising? – It is not known whether the future looks promising.

Am I going to reconcile with my ex? – It is not a yes or a no for questions involving whether your ex is going to come back. For now, just live your life. You must wait until the situation unfolds further.

The High Priestess as a Negative, Weakness or Obstacle

When The High Priestess appears as a negative, weakness, or obstacle in a Tarot spread, this means you have difficulty telling the difference between your feelings and your intuition; you must work on this if you want a happier life. In some types of Tarot readings, The High Priestess can also mean that secrets are being kept from you, and they are not what you are likely to expect.

The High Priestess as a Positive, Strength or Advantage

In a positive, strength, or advantage spread position, The High Priestess means that you have very good intuition. You have the ability to navigate any situation using your psychic abilities, and this will serve you well in the coming months.

Closing Thoughts on The High Priestess Tarot Card Meaning

Because she can symbolism a future which is not yet to be revealed I feel that the High Priestess is often frustrating to interpret in a reading. However, she is the card of the diviner, so she has a special place in the hearts of all readers.

The High Priestess is often a Tarot readers favourite card. She is the first card which many readers look at before they purchase a Tarot deck. How about you? Is The High Priestess your favourite card? Or is yours something different?
