The World: Predictive Tarot Card Meanings

Completion, Desirable Outcome, Emigration, End of a Cycle, Foreign, Guaranteed, Positive Results, Migration, Movement Around the World, Rewards, Travel

The World is the card of completion. This card signals that you are the end of one life stage and about to start of another.

Often, The World comes up when a major lifeโ€™s ambition has been acted upon. Your thoughts have become things and they have taken shape in real life. Your dream have been achieved and you can now start to make new ones. The World card often makes an appearance after marriage or after a business goes from start up to sustainable. You must now get comfortable in your new life and begin making fresh goals.

In a way this card is (in my opinion) one of the best Tarot cards for rewards and success. Your achievements are stable and set in stone without any surprises for the foreseeable future. You can now relax and breath a little.

Some interpretations link this card with travel around the world. It is possible that you will start a new life in another country. Alternatively, you could travel around the globe to sample what the Earth has to offer. Anything which is foreign and exotic can be found in this card.

In any event The World is rarely ever negative. If this card does appear in a negative context, it serves as reassurance that all will be worth it in the end. While the path to the end is difficult and often torturous you can be reassured that one day you will stand on top of the world. You can end one journey and start a new one.

There is always the possibility that The World can predict a new beginning which is not welcome, even if it is good for you. If this is the case, The World means that while getting to the point of The World may be difficult, everything after this point will make the hardship seem worth it.

The Worldโ€™s Historical Meaning

Like many of the Major Arcana cards, the pre-20th century meaning of The World card is very similar to the modern meaning. In this case, The World also indicates new beginnings and renewal. I should be noted that the Etteilla Tarot equivalent, Person/Voyage (blade 5), is a travel card.

The World in a Love Reading

The World is always a good card to receive if youโ€™re performing a love reading, especially if it pops up in an outcome position. The World means that your partner (or future partner) will provide you with all that you desire, such as more commitment. Their feelings are loving and their motives are pure.

If the love reading is overly negative but you get The World card, this can mean that your current partner is not able to provide you everything you want. However, the World reassures you that there are other people who are willing to give you their everything. One day, you will settle down with your Prince Charming and get your fairytale ending.

The World in a Business Reading

Like in a love reading, The World is also favorable for business readings. If you get this card for a business or work related question, it can predict a brilliant new beginning for your company and career.

Because The World is a travel card, it can mean that you will have the opportunity for international trade. You will be well known overseas for the work you do. The World sees trips around the world which are linked to your business.

The World as a Yes or No

The World is a certain yes!

The World in a Positive Reading

In a positive reading, The World can predict;

- Positive results

- Travel around the world

- Outcomes you want

- End of a cycle

- Completion of a matter

The World in a Negative Reading

In a more negative reading or spread position, The World can predict;

- The World is rarely negative but sometimes it can indicate that a new beginning is not welcome. However, all will be good so you should look forward to it.
