Three of Pentacles: Predictive Tarot Card Meaning

Skill, Learning, Apprenticeships, Recognition, Rubbing Shoulders with Important People, Well-Known, Royalty, Celebrity

The 3 of Pentacles is the card of apprenticeships. The 3 of Pentacles marks a period of time when you are developing yourself for the future.

Typically, those who receive this card are putting the skills and talents which they were born with to good use. You may be furthering your education, taking up an apprenticeships or honing in on your craft. Because you have a natural talent, your skills will not go unnoticed by those who matter.

The hard work and training you are putting in now may or may pay off in the end. The 3 of Pentacles marks the start of the journey, not the end result. Therefore, you’ll need to push a little harder before you begin to see rewards. However, the prospects are good.

I suppose that a need for effort is one of the more negative faces of the 3 of Pentacles. You may have all it takes to make something work, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll apply yourself when it matters. It’s a sad fact that many people fail what they attempt out of arrogance; you might be talented in an area but that doesn’t mean there aren’t people out there who are better than you.

It is also possible that you will become the subject of envy by others who are not as naturally talented as you are. If this is the case, they may attempt to call you out or put your abilities to the test. I advise you do not rise to their pettiness.

The Three of Pentacles’ Historical Meaning

In times of old the 3 of Pentacles card was associated with rubbing shoulders with nobility and royalty. Even now-a-days, I have used this meaning with success. Therefore, know that you can rise to the top if you keep up the hard work and keep your eyes on the prize.

Tarot card meanings and interpretation for The Three of Pentacles (Coins) in general, love, feelings, outcomes, future, positive and negative readings and as a yes or no. In fortune telling, The 3 of Pentacles card can be a symbol of learning.

The Three of Pentacles in a Love Reading

In general, the 3 of Pentacles is one of those cards which I read as not being very good for love readings. Its not that the card in itself has a bad meaning, its just that it is not a card of love and affection; this tells me that there is not much there.

In fact, in some love readings I would read the 3 of Pentacles quite negatively, especially if you’re asking about a potential partner’s feelings. The 3 of Pentacles can mean that your love interest thinks there may be too much skill or effort involved in making you happy. In a nut shell, you’re hard work. There’s also the possibility that they think you’re too far out of their league to consider you a mate; and if they’re thinking it you probably are.

The Three of Pentacles in a Business Reading

The 3 of Pentacles is an okay card for business readings. If your reading looks really positive I would apply the ancient interpretation; you may get to the point where you’re associating with very important people through your work.

However, the most likely interpretation for the 3 of Pentacles in a business or career reading is one of education. You may not yet have all of the skills and knowledge you need to grow your business so will need to take a course or hire a coach. However, your investment will pay off much better than you could ever anticipate so don’t be afraid to stick your head in the books (or computer screen!).

The Three of Pentacles as a Yes or No

For love readings, the 3 of Pentacles is usually a no. For anything which the success of requires education, hard work, effort or will power the 3 of Pentacles is a definite yes; you’ve got this!

The Three of Pentacles as a Positive

In a positive reading, the 3 of Pentacles can predict;

- The start of education

- Meeting celebrities

- Rubbing shoulders with important people

- Developing a skill

- Others recognizing your potential

The Three of Pentacles as a Negative

In a more negative reading, the 3 of Pentacles can predict;

- You will be the subject of envy

- Others will call you out

- You will have to put in effort

- You will take your natural born ability for granted
