In this series, I teach you the Tarot meanings quickly. Today, we are going to look at the meanings of the Tarot Kings. After reading this post, you will have an overall understanding on the Kings and be able to interpret the meanings of all Tarot Kings.
Let’s jump into it!
In most readings, the Kings typically represent your current or future partner, reflecting energies or aspects that will influence your life. They symbolise the presence or characteristics of someone significant to you.
Rather than interpreting two Kings as representing two different people, it’s more effective to view them as representing various facets of your partner’s personality. For example, if the King of Cups appears in the reading, it highlights your partner’s loving, affectionate, and warm side. Conversely, if the King of Swords shows up in another part of the reading, it reveals where your partner may exhibit negativity, manipulation, or a more challenging demeanour.
If you find a large proportion of Kings in your Tarot reading compared to other court cards, it often indicates that the focus is on your partner and their feelings rather than on you and your emotions. This suggests that their comfort, wants, and needs are central to the situation, highlighting their role and influence in the current context.
The Tarot Kings
Let’s start with the King of Wands. This card represents your partner's areas of enthusiasm and innovation. It highlights where he feels energised, imaginative, and full of creative energy.
Sometimes, the King of Wands can also reflect your partner's friendships, hobbies, or interests. Similar to the Queen of Wands, if the King of Wands appears as a negative influence in a relationship reading, it may indicate that your partner is spending too much time with friends or on personal interests, rather than focusing on the relationship.
Next, we have the King of Cups. Much like the Queen of Cups, the King of Cups represents someone who is loving, warm, and empathetic, often possessing a deep sense of emotional insight and intuition.
If the King of Cups appears in a future position, it suggests that your partner will become more empathetic towards you and your needs. Even if he isn't currently demonstrating this level of understanding, it indicates that he will develop a greater sense of emotional connection and support in the future. This shift may simply be due to him being focused on other areas of life at the moment.
Next, we have the King of Swords. This card represents areas where your partner is feeling conflict-driven or confrontational. It highlights where he may be seeking arguments, exhibiting difficulty, or struggling to enjoy life. The King of Swords can also signify a tendency towards logical, rather than emotional, responses.
If the King of Swords appears in a position related to children, it might indicate that he is experiencing frustration or anger concerning children. This could manifest as dissatisfaction with not having children, or approaching issues related to children with a more analytical rather than a nurturing perspective.
Finally, we have the King of Pentacles. Like the Queen of Pentacles, this card represents areas of abundance, including business, career, and the management of time and resources.
In a work reading, if the King of Pentacles appears positively, it suggests that he is supportive of your career and may offer assistance in various ways. It also indicates that he is highly focused on his own career, which can be beneficial to you. In a relationship reading, the King of Pentacles signifies a willingness to provide financial support and contribute to the stability and security of the partnership.
