Ten of Swords: Predictive Tarot Card Meanings

Ruin, The End, Pain, Illness, Emptiness, Destruction, Treachery by those you Trust, Loneliness, Imprisonment

The 10 of Swords is the card of destruction. All is lost in a situation once the 10 of Swords makes an appearance. In fact, many Tarot readers (including myself) read it as the worst card in the pack.

When the 10 of Swords appears in your reading, relationships end in the most terrible and cruel way. You can expect to be stripped of your confidence after the fact. In fact, the 10 of Swords often pops up to represent abusive relationships.

When it comes to business, career and finance all is also lost. Poverty, bankruptcy, home repossession, and the loss of a career are all common interpretations for the 10 of Swords. Once the dust settles, you must begin a new.

In many cases the 10 of Swords can also represent ill health. The reason for this is because the card is associated with agony and pain; your anguish may be physical as well as emotional. Time spent in prison is a common interpretation of the 10 of Swords, especially if combined with The Tower. Depression and grief are common themes.

If the 10 of Swords lands in an outcome or future position of a Tarot spread, additional cards should be pulled to show you how you can begin to rebuild your life.

They say, however, that even in the darkest of circumstances there is still hope for a better tomorrow. In the Rider Waite Smith design of the card, the sun rises in the distance to begin another day. If the 10 of Swords is rock bottom then the only way is up from there.

The Ten of Swordsโ€™ Historical Meaning

The 10 of Swords has been read pretty much the same for as long as Tarot cards have been in the history books.

The Ten of Swords in a Love Reading

For the majority of love readings, the 10 of Swords is a very negative outcome, especially if it appears in the future. The 10 of Swords is a sign that you should abandoned the relationship and move on with your life because the road youโ€™re on will bring you nothing but misery and depressive feelings. There are better things (and people) out there for you, you should go out and find them.

The Ten of Swords in a Business Reading

Like in other types of readings, the 10 of Swords predicts a terrible outcome for business and career readings. Your business, product or plan will not be successful and will eventually run into serious problems. With the 10 of Swords card there is nothing more to say other than it is time for you to get back to the drawing board and think up a different idea entirely.

The Ten of Swords as a Yes or No

The 10 of Swords is always a no

The Ten of Swords as a Positive

In a positive reading, the Ten of Swords can predict;

- The 10 of Swords is rarely positive. However, the only way is up from the bottom and nothing worst can happen.

The Ten of Swords as a Negative

In a more negative reading, the Ten of Swords can predict;

- Complete ruin

- Life in tatters

- Destruction

- Time behind bars

- Betrayal by those you trust most
