Determination, Drive, Fights, Issues, Protection, Recognition, Revenge, Success, Victory, War
The Chariot is the card of Triumph. With this card, triumph over enemies is predicted. In fact, triumph over everyone is a possibility.
You will be at the top of your game without much worthy competition. Glory will rain on top of you and you will bask in your new found status. Success, high honor and victory is guaranteed because this card is a sign that you have the drive to make it happen.
I should add that one of my personal pet hates, is when people talk crap about successful individuals because they assume that they had to step over others to get what they have. Usually, being a shitty person doesn't correlate to your financial status. However, I would interpret The Chariot in a very stereotypical way.
I read The Chariot as someone who has achieved the things they want by using other people. It could be through their connections, friendships, etc. but one way or another The Chariot has had a lot of assistance in their goals. You're the guy who's friends set him up with girls. You're the guy who runs the factory and pays the workers minimum wage. You're the girl who's friends got her a guest spot on that big YouTube channel. For either good or evil, you have used (or will use) people to your advantage.
With the above interpretation in mind, the more negative face of The Chariot is that it can symbolize someone who likes to be above others. You like the limelight and once you have climbed to the top of the pedestal, you intend on staying there. There is a force within you which wants to be the winner; and you'll do what it takes to remain one. This personality trait may be buried deep inside of you only to surface once you have gotten your first taste of success. It may even come as a surprise.
Although you can enjoy your accomplishments for a short time ensure that you are not living in a state of 'high and mighty' for too long. Nobody likes a show off and you’ll loose some of your prestige if you wave your achievements in the faces of others; modesty will win you a strong fan base.
In general, The Chariot is a card of movement be it literally or towards a goal. In some cases, The Chariot is the Major Arcana version of the 6 of Swords, but more positive. I often see The Chariot with people who have just passed their driving test.
The Chariot’s Historical Meaning
If you are in charge of other people, then you should be careful with how you use your authority. Some readers believe that The Chariot is the card of a tyrant. War may be declared in the future to overthrow your seeker so, again, they should be careful of how they treat those at the bottom who may one say seek revenge. Alternatively, your seeker may be the one to launch a revolution against a shady King.
The Chariot in a Love Reading
The Chariot is a funny card to get for a love reading, because it is not one which is associated with partnerships and relationships. In general, it is a card of standing above others and feeling self-assured. Therefore, the card can serve as a reminder that you do not need your partner for happiness and you certainly do not have to rely on them to get the things from life you want. You can survive without a man/woman.
With the above being said, I would also argue that The Chariot is okay for love readings if you’re already in a relationship. In a positive love reading, it can show you and your partner progressing quickly and moving towards a future together at tremendous pace.
There is also the possibility that your partner will do exceptionally well in their career and you will reap the benefits of their success. Therefore, if you’re the type of person who wants someone to look after you while you live the life of luxury The Chariot is a welcomed omen.
If your wondering how someone is feeling towards you The Chariot isn’t very favorable. Its not that it is a particularly bad card, it is just that The Chariot has a very personal energy and doesn’t represent people who think about others. I would say that this person isn’t really focused on the future of the relationship.
The Chariot in a Business Reading
As you might expect, The Chariot is an amazing card for career related readings, especially if you’re in business. It predicts willpower, drive, recognition, success, authority and all of the great things you would associate with that. However, the card has some negative associations for business readings.
When you’re on top there’s envy. The Chariot warns that you should be very good to your followers and fans because if you neglect them, this could breed resentment. While you’re on the top of your game enjoying your achievements you may forget to notice the people who helped you get there. Eventually they could sneak in and pull the rug from under you so try not to get too comfortable.
The Chariot as a Yes or No
The Chariot is usually a yes for anything involving drive, determination and willpower. For anything romantic, the card is neutral (see: Yes or No Using Tarot Card Interpretations)
