Attraction, Choices, Good Decisions, Physical, Proof, Sex, Sexuality, Soul Mates, The End of Troubles
The Lovers is the card of passion. With this card, all strong emotions are ignited within the you. When you feel, you will feel hard for the time frame which The Lovers represents.
It is obvious that The Lovers is the card of love and relationships. That which is both emotionally and physically pleasurable will pop up as The Lovers. Soulmates, sex and, even, marriages can be predicted with The Lovers.
Typically, passion can be a good thing. However, for more negative readings, some Tarot readers will predict trouble cooking when relationships become too intense. Strong emotions can make relationships volatile.
Other times, a bad reading can mean that The Lovers is seedy in some way. Affairs often first appear as The Lovers. This card marks the time when a friendship or emotional affair turns physical. If you suspect unfaithfulness, I would look for other cards which can indicate infidelity and heartache (3 of Swords, 5 of Cups).
If you are not concerned with love your passion will manifest as a hobby or pastime which you will engross yourself in. This is not a common interpretation but it does appear from time to time. Your new found interest will take up all of your time and energy; it will become an obsession.
Another interpretation is that The Lover’s represents choice and in some Tarot card designs there is a male is choosing between two lovers. In this case, the card will predict that you will choose what you are passionate about. Usually, the decisions you make will be for the better unless there are cards which predict otherwise.
The Lovers’ Historical Meaning
In ancient times, The Lovers was read as a card of choices, usually wise ones (hence The man choosing between two lovers on the Marseilles deck). There is also an air of the card being symbolic of proof and making decisions based on the facts not fantasy.
The Lovers in a Love Reading
It is pretty obvious that The Lovers is a desirable card for love readings and relationships. I have found that this card makes an appearance when two soulmates have found each other. If it appears in an outcome position of a love reading? Expect good results from the relationship.
If you’re curious to know how a potential partner feels about you, then The Lovers is a good card to get. More than likely, their feelings sway towards wanting some type of relationship with you. However, be wary that the relationship isn’t all physical otherwise your partner might loose respect for you and not stick around for the long term.
The only time this card isn’t encouraging for love readings is when it appears and you’re involved in an affair as the ‘other woman/man’. In this case, your partner will not leave their significant other for you; they want purely the physical parts of the relationship with no strings attached. This is especially true if there are Queen (or King) Court cards around as these can represent the fact that their wife/husband is here to stay.
The Lovers in a Business Reading
It is fairly common to receive The Lovers card for business and career related questions. It pops up, because for most business people, their company is their passion.
I usually predict The Lovers as representing a passion project. This can be in the form of teaching a course or writing a book. It will be something linked to your business which you can pour your heart into and get creative with.
Another possibility, is that The Lovers can symbolize the approach of major choices which you have to make for your business; usually, you will have to choose between two things. These will not be easy decisions to make but both look profitable. If this is you, my advice is to select the option which you can see yourself doing every day and putting more effort into. Unless other cards advise you differently, make your judgment from the heart, not the head.
The Lovers as a Yes or No
The Lovers is usually a yes, especially if you’re concerned about making the right decision. However, there are most definite cards which can appear.
